Welcome to Athelstan Community Primary School

As part of World Book Week we had a special day of activities and the children dressed up as their favourite explorer. In Year 2, we read the story 'Sir Charlie Stinky Socks and the really big adventure' and we found a letter hidden inside the book... The letter was from Sir Charlie asking us to make a book about how to survive an adventure. In groups, the children made books containing maps, instructions on how to make sandwiches, a contents page, a song to scare away beasties and lots more. The children shared their reasons about why they chose their costume and each class swapped their teacher for half an hour to listen to an exciting story! It was an action packed day!

We were also very lucky to have a visit from an author: Antony Wootten. He read a story to the children and answered lots of questions.
