For Orchard Week this term, Year 3 launched our Science topic all about Plants. We started by sketching different plants that grew in the Orchard. From these sketches and observations, we then went on to describe the functions of the features of a plant.

The next day, Year 3 that there had been a crime committed in the Orchard! Initially intent to go and investigate the anatomy of a flower, Year 3 discovered dead tulips littering the orchard floor with police tape surrounding the ghastly sight! The children needed to investigate and dissected the flowers to identify each of the flower’s part. We then discussed the function of these discovered features.
