We were very lucky today to have a visit from Mr Small, who is a photographer, and experience taking ‘documentary pictures’. As part of our topic we will be looking at the work of the war artist Henry Moore. During the war, Henry Moore took pictures and sketched images of Londoners sheltering in the underground during the blitz. He later produced sculptures from the images to show the resilience of the people of London. We will be able to see one of his statues outside the House of Parliament when we visit in April. Mr Small explained about lighting, angles and capturing a ‘decisive moment’. He also explained how we can during our Art lessons. During the visit Mr Small talked about who inspires him as an artist and explained his passion for the subject. We really enjoyed the session and are excited to develop our photography skills.
