A team of Y4 children Alexa Murray, Harvey Targett, Maya Foreman, Jade Crawford, Emma Brown, James Kirkham, Zak Halloran took part in the local hockey tournament this week at Sherburn High School. We are really proud of the children who came 2nd in the tournament. Well done.

A very big well done to our Year 5 boys Archie Butler, Will Parks, Benedict Brogan, Aaron Hudson, Finlay Cronshaw, Cameron Stewart, Bailey Burton and Lucas Duffill who took part in the local schools 6 Aside on Thursday afternoon. There were nine teams in all, the boys won their pool and went into the final with Kirk Fenton. The match was very exciting and competitive. Kirk Fenton won the final 2-0. A great effort by Athelstan.

Three of our Y5 boys, Lucas Duffill, Aaron Hudson, and TJ Wood took part in the district cross country event this week having qualified following their success at Sherburn High School. We are delighted to say that Aaron came 1st, Lucas 2nd and TJ 17th. Aaron and Lucas will now progress to the next round of competition which will be held at Dalby Forest. Mrs Sampsonwas especially impressed with the boys’ encouragement and support of other competitors.

On Thursday 3rd October a team of KS1 children attended the KS1 Beanbag Rounders Festival at Kirk Fenton Primary School. For many of the children this was their first sports competition. The afternoon was made even better as they won both games they played. Super work, well done!

On Thursday 19th September a team of Year 5 children attended the KS2 Cross Country Pre-Qualifiers event at Sherburn High School. The children had to run 1,200 metres around the school field. All children tried their best and enjoyed the afternoon. Lucas Duffill, Aaron Hudson and TJ Wood came in the top 8. These three boys will take part in the next round at Selby College on Wednesday 9th October. We wish them the best of luck! 

On Thursday 12th September a team of Year 3 children attended the Year 3&4 Multiskills Festival at Kellington Primary School. The children had a lovely afternoon taking part in a variety of activities including; beanbag throwing, dribbling and parachute.  Well done to all who took part.

On Thursday 27th  June a team of Year 1 children attended the KS1 Muktiskills Festival at Kellington Primary School. The children had a lovely afternoon taking part in a range of multiskills sports activities. Well done to all who took part.

On Thursday 13th  June a team of Year 5 children attended the KS2 Dodgeball Fun Festival at Sherburn Hungate Primary School. The children had an enjoyable afternoon competing against a number of other schools. Well done to all who took part.

On Thursday 23th May a team of Year 5 children attended the Year 5&6 Kwik Cricket Festival at Church Fenton Cricket Club. The children had a lovely day competing in a number of games against stiff competition.  Well done to all who took part.

On Thursday 11th April a team of Year 5 children attended the Year 5&6 Tag Rugby Festival at Kellington Primary School. The children had a fun afternoon competing against a number of schools. Well done to all who played.

 On Thursday 28th  March a team of Year 5 children attended the Year 5&6 Swimming Festival at Tadcaster Swimming Pool. The children had an enjoyable afternoon taking part in several races incluidng; breast stroke, back stroke, freestyle, butterfly and relays. Well done to all who took part.

 On Thursday 21st  March a team of Year 5 children attended the Year 5&6 High 5's Netball Festival at Sherburn High School. The team played well against some stiff comeptition. Well done to all who took part.

 

On Thursday 14th March a team of Year 4 children attended the KS2 Basketball Festival at Monk Fryston Primary School. The children all played well against tough competition. A bigh well done all who took part.

On Thursday 7th  February a team of Year 2 children attended the KS1 Dodgeball Fun Festival at Sherburn Hungate Primary School. The children had an enjoyable afternoon competing against 5 other schools. The team won 3 matches, drew 1 and lost 1, coming 2nd overall. Well done to all who took part.


Following the qualifiers, four Year 3 & 4 Boys made it through to todays District Cross Country Championships at Selby High School. Each of the boys ran 1,200 metres in their fastest possible time. The boys did a fantastic job showing great athletic ability! Harvey Targett came 5th, Aaron Hudson 6th, Finlay Cronshaw 8th making it through to the Cross Country Final at Dalby Forest! Well done to Sebastian Wraith-Lobley who just missed out on qualifying.


On Thursday 22nd November a team of Year 1 children attended the KS1 Cross Country Event at South Milford Primary School. The children all enjoyed themselves, and for some it was their first competitive school sport event. All children did well, running as fast as they could. We are pleased to announce that Max Hudson came 2nd in the Year 1 boys race. Well done for your brilliant effort!

On Thursday 15th November a team of 6 Year 4's attended the Quick Sticks Hockey Festival at Kirk Fenton Primary School. The children worked and communicated well as a team putting in a good performance in their three matches. Athelstan's Hockey Team finished in 3rd position in their pool. Well done boys and girls!

On Thursday 8th November a team of Year 5 and 6 children attended the Sports Hall Athletcis Festival at Sherburn High School. The children did very well, all trying hard in a number of athletic activities including both jumping and running events. 
Athelstan finished in an overall position of 6th. Fantastic effort from all, well done!


On Thursday 18th October a team of Year 3 and 4 children attended the Cross Country Event at Sherburn High School. The children did very well, all trying hard to run the distance in the fastest time possible. We are pleased to announce that we have several children who have made it through to the next round of the competition. Harvey came 2nd in the Year 3 Boys race, Aaron came 3rd in the Year 4 Boys race, Finlay came 6th and Sebastian came 7th. The top 8 runners from each race qualified.
