On Monday 20th April Year 3/4 spent the day experiencing what life would have been like for an evacuee during WW2 at Murton Park. They arrived dressed in our WW2 outfits and were met by Mrs T, the local Billeting Officer, who immediately put us to work in her farmhouse kitchen.

Year 3/4 worked with Mrs T to clean washing and tack, make farmhouse crunch and butter and even 'make do and mend' their own rag rug. We also met the local ARP Warden, Mr F, who taught them all about the different bombs used by the Germans and the correct procedure to follow during an air raid. After that, he put them through their paces with an air raid drill and by showing them how to put out an incendiary device with a stirrup pump. The day was fantastic and they learnt lots about WW2 they will be able to use when back in school.
