This is a very exciting time for us at Athelstan School as from September 2016 the school will lower its age range to admit children from aged 2. The school and governors have been working with the local authority to help create high quality 2 year old places within the community.

Athelstan School went through consultation with the local community and local child care providers. The consultation feedback has enabled the school to plan for the provision.

Organisation and Planning will be taking place during the spring and summer term, we plan to make policies and application procedures available in May.

The new facility will provide Early Years education for children in the term following their 2nd birthday. The facility will provide both funded and sessional paid places. The criterion for a funded place is shown below. A charging policy and pricing structure will be available from May 2016.

What is the Two Year Old Funded Early Education Place?

Two year olds are entitled to free early education if they meet certain eligibility criteria (see eligibility criteria) it is not an entitlement for all children as the three and four year old is. The Local Authority is making available free early education places offering 570 hours a year over no fewer than 38 weeks of the year.

What are the eligibility criteria for families?

To qualify for a place you must evidence that you are in receipt of one or more of the following
